Since the first quarter of 2019, Occidental Mindoro Consolidated Power Corporation (OMCPC) has proudly partnered with the San Jose District Jail (SJDJ) to support its initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and enhancing the facility’s infrastructure.
Our collaboration began with a simple request for 10 empty drums to support SJDJ’s clean and green program. These drums were later repurposed as water reservoirs for two PDL dormitories, providing a practical solution to the facility’s needs.
Recognizing the value of fostering this partnership, OMCPC’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Calvin Luther R. Genotiva, and CSR Officer, Mr. Rolando “Boy” Ilustre, paid a courtesy visit to then-Jail Warden, JINSP Efren S. Olivar, to discuss further support for SJDJ. This dialogue resulted in OMCPC donating materials worth ₱100,000, which were used to construct a multi-purpose area, steel bunks for PDLs, and tables and chairs for the visitation area. The multi-purpose area, built on an open space in front of the facility, became a hub for activities such as morning meetings, film viewings, seminars, and ALS classes, providing a more conducive environment for PDLs and their families during visits.
