The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) conducted a regulatory visit to three power plants operated by the Occidental Mindoro Consolidated Power Corporation (OMCPC) on Thursday, April 4, 2024, as part of its mandate to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
The visit, led by ERC Commissioner Marko Romeo L. Fuentes, covered OMCPC’s key facilities: the SMRA Solar Power Plant (SPP), the SMRA Diesel Power Plant (DPP), and the San Jose Bunker C-Fired Diesel Power Plant (BCFDPP). These plants are critical to the province’s energy supply, with the BCFDPP currently providing electricity to the Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (OMECO). Meanwhile, the SMRA SPP and SMRA DPP are in the test and commissioning phase, supplying power to OMECO under controlled operations.
OMCPC serves as the sole operator of power plants across the mainland of Occidental Mindoro. In addition to the San Jose facilities, the corporation operates diesel power plants in the municipalities of Mamburao and Sablayan, ensuring energy demands across the province are met.
